a work-y blog.

got good news today from the personnel lady at walmart!

after all these months of working third shift and about two months after requesting a change, she finally has me set up for a cashier job DURING THE DAY.

you do not know how amazing this is.

I WILL BE AWAKE IN THE SUNLIGHT.

I WILL SLEEP AT NIGHT.

LIKE A NORMAL PERSON.

I WILL CAPSLOCK UNTIL MY JOY SUBSIDES.

which is right now.

bad new, of course, always comes with good news.  the bad news is that she is still trying to replace me on third shift.  she's interviewed three people and none of them worked out.  hopefully she's not telling them they would be working apparel, because most people know that that area is HELL IN WALMART it always has too much freight and never enough people to run it.  there are two other people on third who threatened to quit after working apparel for awhile and we given new jobs and never asked to do it again.  that's how bad it it.  it's so bad that everyone knows how bad it is and will give you a new job if you threaten them.

i told shelley that this was fine, because at least i now have hope.  there is a light at the end of my row of apparel carts.

while this is not an actual picture of my light at the end of apparel, it is certainly joyful enough:

it's a box full of rubber ducks.  does it get happier than that?
peace.

too much stuff blog.

don't have time to do all the things i want, including blog.  it depresses me a bit, and maybe my my six followers as well.  :P

anyway, i spend all my time working in hell and studying in hell and then hopefully sleeping.  the pay is alright at least, but i don't think anyone actually knows how to run my department, or else they just can't agree on one way and stick with it.  it's hard to do a job when three-ish people are telling you three-ish different ways to handle the same problem.

also i need to see my dude way more often.  not that i don't see him, cuz i do, but we have some serious wedding planning that needs to go on.  i know we still have about a year, but that's really not a long time apparently.  mom offered to buy us our plates and little party favors and such, but we don't even know how many people will be there yet, and that sort of list making definitely requires both of us to be together for a few hours with both of us awake!

i thought i had decided on a dress, though.  then i fell in love with another hand-made dress on etsy, only to find out that the fabric it's made from is discontinued, so i would have to order it now to be sure to have it.  problem is i'm still losing about one to two pounds a week, sometimes as many as four (and sometimes none at all), so there is no way for me to know what size to order that dress. . .i could have it altered, but i don't want to pay for dress stuff twice. . .

my plan on that front is to continues weight watchers in 'lose' mode until about august of next year, order the dress at whatever size i am then (it takes a month or so to get it, it's hand-made and comes from new zealand), and then go into 'maintain' mode until after the wedding.

Wedding Dress in Full Skirted 1950s Pin up Rockabilly Style with Polka Dot Petticoat and Sash Tea Length - custom made to fit

this is the one i want, but that polka dot tulle apparently won't be made forever, and that's my favorite part!  but all the wedding dresses she makes are beautiful, all fifties retro. . .so cool!  pop a pill box hat with cool short veil and i'll be set!

the shop is here if anybody is interested:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/PixiePocket?ref=seller_info

my future brother-in-law is getting married this weekend, so i also got a cutesy dress for that!  i love to dress up, plus it's a nice big family event so it should be cool.  chris and i are responsible for the rice krispie treats for dipping in the chocolate fountain.  was that a great decision?  we shall see. . .

anyway, it's like seven a.m. and my dude should be waking up to go to work soon, so maybe i can see him for a bit!  plus i wanna try to hit the treadmill this morning before i go to bed (stupid third shift job. . .)

peace.

a blind blog.

ha, not really.  only without my glasses.

i look silly without my glasses.  D:

which i was without for about 15 minutes yesterday (and those are rubber bands around my wrist, not some weird fat roll).  anyway, while cleaning my glasses, i broke the little nose piece off.  and i was very sad.  i thought i could pop it back in, but without my glasses i couldn't *see* my glasses to know how bad it was.  miles was nice enough to look for be and tell me that no, it was broken, but that we had super glue.  to which i replied that my eyes are bad enough without super glue fumes attacking them.

i was going to ignore it and get it fixed tomorrow, but they immediately started sitting crooked and the little metal bit was stabbing me in my face.  so i took my ten minute break and ran down to lenscrafters while simultaneously stuffing a granola bar in my face.

the lady there did fix them, but she also decided they were really dirty and needed a thorough cleaning.  so she cleaned them and put them on this vibrating thing to knock dirt off them and then like, pulled the nose piece off again so she had to put it back on.  and then when she was done she told me about all their sales because in her opinion my glasses are so scratched i shouldn't be wearing them anymore.

i think my glasses were so bad that this lady was insulted to be trying to improve them.

sigh.

oh well.  if she has about six hundred dollars lying around maybe she can get me some new ones.  :P

peace.

a *sigh* blog.

we'll start this blog with awesomeness.

just had an awesome three-ish days with my dude, even if i had to work two of them.  did a lot of cuddly things, crafty things, shopping things, gaming things and generally hanging out with my husband-to-be kind of things.  it was totally awesome, and yes, i will  keep saying awesome because you just can't have too much awesome.

in other awesome news, my mixed media glass is going pretty well, except for the fact that i'm already tired of drawing tea sets but still has several more tea set drawings looming on the horizon.

i mean, for realsies?  do i need this many
tea sets to choose from?

i'm going to be picking thumbnails from this sheet to use for the rest of this class.  one week down, four and a half more to go.  sigh!  i'm guessing if we continue at three a week i have nine more plus a final.  sigh again.  D:

but now to the real sigh part of my blog.

i'm feeling very torn about my job.  and here's the reason.  i fucking love this job.  i love it.  i do.  the problem here is this:  the manager that hired me was training me to be a key holder so that i could help them out with closing some nights.  the manager that hired me is gone.  i think she transfered to another store, but i'm not sure.  and no more of this training has gone on since she left, so i figure it's not gonna happen now.  and since it's not gonna happen, i've been off about four days a week.  i actually have the next *five* days off this week.

but what i'm really afraid of is this:  the manager that hired me promised to keep me after the holidays as a regular part timer.  i don't think the new manager we get will necessarily have to live up to that.  especially considering now that the holidays are over, this store is *dead*.  i spend a lot of time reading the books in the store because there is nothing going on.  even when the store is full, people just aren't buying anything.  so part of me is afraid that when we do get a new manager i may not even be able to keep my job.

this really sucks for somebody who just got engaged, is trying to move out and also tentatively planning a wedding.

i wonder if all my papa john's phone answering experience would get me points toward a secretarial job.  i can't keep taking these part time retail jobs that make promises to me that they can't keep.  i've taken lots of courses on the most commonly used computer programs, i can make a spread sheet, i can type pretty fast (and with correct capital letters, contrary to the look of my blog), i can answer phones. . .that sounds secretary-ish to me.  anyway, i'm gonna get a resume together and those are the jobs i'm going to apply for.  hopefully that will go well.

oh well.  we'll just have to see.  i'm off now to call my dude and then try to crochet a hat.

peace.

long day.

not to much to report. currently stuck in my bedroom with a bad dog that is whining to get out. if i leave he tries to escape. if i manage to make it out i have to practically kick him in his head to get back in because he's smart enough to stand behind the door.

i don't know what was up with work today. we didn't seem super busy for a friday (fridays make people crave pizza, i don't know why), but man was everything going wrong. i actually got two orders in wrong today, had them for carryout instead of delivery. i caught one and changed it and got it out, the person didn't even notice. the second one sat there for a few hours before they called back all like 'hey, i ordered pizza like two hours ago'. oh well. it happens. it only bothers me when people are bitchy about it like they've never made a mistake in their lives. but they were super cool about it, in an 'it happens' kinda way. or else one of them has worked in fast food before.

but just got to survive the rest of the weekend then off for two days! yay! i'm gonna do so much crocheting. i'll finish this blanket by the time i'm 30. i guarantee it. i need to take a picture of my blanket so everyone can see it's purple/teal-y awesomeness. i forget to crochet on this blanket for months at a time though, that's why i'm predicting 30 as it's finishing point.

i'm also itching to paint for no apparent reason. i have a board in my room that i painted in cool stripes about this time last year, but could never think of a design to put on it. i have one now, but it's a secret. :P

sad cuz my dude's going to a convention without me tomorrow. i wanted to go real bad, and my dude wanted me to go real bad but i've just been asking for so many days off with my family in town that i felt bad for trying to get that day, too. and i'm totally broke anyway. i need to start saving for gen con in august. i'm hoping i can at least get my badge out of my next paycheck, but we'll see. last year when i went i had zero spending money and still had a great time, so if i can save just a little bit maybe this year i can upgrade to super great. :D

since this blog was boring, i'll leave you this picture of some mints i saw at ear x-tacy.

also look at my awesome orange nail polish. you know you love it.
