a bugaboo blog.

just had the longest non-tantrum related conversation with my little sister in EVER.

and it was pokemon related!!  :D

she's getting so big, it's awesome.  she was having trouble with the new pokemon game i bought her for her birthday.  when she started playing the first day she got it, she forgot to save the game.  so when she called and asked me why she couldn't find her saved game, i was sure i was gonna get a phone tantrum.

but she was actually really good and really smart about the situation!  i told her how to start a new game and told her to call  me when she was ready to save it.  when she called it took her a minute to get what i was saying (i was telling her to look for the 'x' button, and she didn't know if i meant on the screen or on the actual ds), but she finally found it.  that's when i realized there was an *actual* problem (apparently in heart gold, you have to erase the saved game or you'll never be able to save.  i bought this copy used at the flea market, so there was a game already on it. . .)

again, i was sure i was in for baby rage, especially when i told her she would have to start over *again*.

but she didn't.  i explained to her that i was going to look online to find out how to delete the old game and that she'd have to start over and asked if that was okay and she was totally fine.

she did have to give the game to mom to erase it (you have to hit three buttons at the same time and her little fingers didn't reach) but she was very mature about it!  or as mature as you can be about a pokemon game.  :D

i bought her this game because i have the corresponding game.  since she's getting way better at reading i figured she would actually get into the story of the game this time instead of wandering around in the grass whacking pidgeys for fun.  and since i have the other game we could trade and battle and all that fun stuff.  i'll probably have to set her ds up to work on wifi the next time i'm there, but that's no biggie.  i'm really excited, i hope she gets into it.  i'm gonna have to make a special bug trip though, she has to beat a few gym leaders before she can play online, but we'll figure it out.

peace.

tornadoes and keys blog.

apparently kentucky got hit by like, a million tornadoes last night.  or maybe like four, but four tornadoes may as well be a million.

until mandy texted me at about midnight, i didn't know i should be concerned about anything.  i even looked out the window to see if anything was happening.  mandy told me to watch the weather, and i was like 'uh, no cable!'.  so i had to friend WAVE 3 on facebook to keep me informed.  and reading everybody's posts about trees falling down and power going off in their areas just made me even more paranoid.

i went to the WAVE 3 site and found out shelby county was under a tornado watch, and it stayed that way for a while.  then later i saw on facebook that it had been upgraded to a warning and at that exact second the sirens go off.  chris and i had been going back and forth on whether or not we should go somewhere, but with the siren we were out of there.  i put my shoes and hoodie on, grabbed the doctor and put him in a laundry basket (he was pissed, as you can imagine) and was practically waiting at the door and like a minute.

chris, on the other hand, was looking for his keys.

he finally found his keys locked in the truck.

again.

i love my dude more than anything in the world, but damn is he good at locking those keys in!  especially when it's really important to have them!  like during snow storms, tornadoes and when i'm late for work.

so we didn't get to go to chris's parents nice safe brick house and i pissed off  my kitty for no reason.  by this time we'd woken phil up to get his opinion on the matter (he was like 'tornadoes, whatevs.')  chris's parents offered to come get us, but by the time they got to us the warning would be over and they'd have to try to shelter with us, so we decline.  i gathered up the doctor again and chris and i headed to the big walk in closed where we hid for about 20 minutes.  at about three minutes til the warning was to expire phil came in the room to make fun of us for hiding in the closet.  at about one minute the doctor escaped the closet and hid under the bed.  i hoped the tornado didn't try to strike while my kitty was out of my hands!

no tornado ever came, at least not to my house.

so that's adventure one.

adventure two started this afternoon when i was all dressed and ready to go out.  then we remember the keys are locked in the truck.  i'm getting really sleepy and tired of typing, so long story short, chris and his dad broke out the back window of the truck to get the door unlocked.

yeah.  so we have a temporary trash bag window, but phil is going to use his awesome lowe's powers to bring us a piece of plexi glass for it tomorrow.

so yeah.

peace.

a stormy blog!

spent a few days at my parents house this weekend for my granny's birthday party!  party went off without a hitch, family parties are always the best!  i did have to spend the previous day deep in crochet land trying to finish the shawl i wanted to give her for her birthday.  i did finish it, though at some point during the process bug decided she was a kitty and was going to play with my yarn ball with her ravioli hands. . .it left a little stain, but luckily most of it made it into a stitch, so you don't even notice it if you don't know where it is.

i also got my hair did, which is always fun.

look at this hair bein' all did.

in other news, i'm currently taking a speech class, and i have to do all my speeches via webcam.  which totally blows and i look awful on webcam.  D:  it makes things a little easier since i'm terrified of public speaking (at least on webcam i can't see people looking at me), but it also makes it a little harder since i have the option of doing it several times until it's perfect and will keep doing it until it is.  i did a tiny two minute speech about 6 times yesterday because i couldn't stop myself from 'um'-ing all the time.  the one i finally settled on still had one in it.  but i just can't not do it. . .

here's my 'that's awful' outtake.  enjoy.

now, to get to the part of the blog where i actually tell you about the storm instead of just making it the title and then forgetting about it.

i woke up yesterday to an awesome day.  it was cloudy, but it felt so nice outside, it was great.  so i put on my cute 'it's so nice outside!' skirt and some flip flops and i am ready to go.  chris and i were planning on stopping by the big flea market on the way home and i was totally excited.

inside, however, the weather channel is telling us it's going to be just awful everywhere and shouldn't have made plans at all.  but we were not deterred.

i went and changed from my cute skirt into some jeans and tennis shoes so my feet wouldn't get all wet in the horrible storm that was supposed to hit us.  another channel tells us there is a severe thunderstorm warning for us and bullit county (which we would be heading towards), for the next half hour or so, so we decided to wait it out.  of course, nothing happened.

nothing happened because it waited for us to get on the interstate to start throwing water on us.  screw you, weather.  it was pretty rough going for a bit, not even really because of all the rain but because of the mist getting thrown off all the other cars and chris' windshield wipers kinda blowing.

we finally do make it to the exit for the flea market and decide we'll go ahead and park and wait it out.

and of course, we park and there's nothing.  not a drop of rain falling from the sky.  just massive puddles we have to make our way around.  sigh.

so flea market fun was had.  on the way out, the sun decided to shine on us again, turning the parking area into a hot, muddy sauna.  my jeans were sticking to me and i was totally miserable.  chris told me to go get my skirt and flip flops and i could change in the flea market bathrooms, but i didn't really want to change there.  and i could have changed when we got to our next destination, but the truck was so hot and i was about to be covered in all the stuff we had with us, just to make it worse.

so being the clever girl that i am (and lucky enough to be in a pretty empty parking lot), i put my skirt on over my jeans while standing outside of the truck, took them off, got my socks and tennis shoes off and then did my best to get my flip flops on without my feet getting in the mud (they still did).  cuz i am hardcore like that and i don't deal well with humidity.

so there you go.  chris was cheering me on just because he wanted to watch.  silly boys.

peace.

a new years blog.

hope everybody had an awesome new years!

our annual new years party was alright.  we got stormed on for a random minute and also learned spanish words playing mexican bingo.  apparently 'la chalupa' is a lady in a boat (according to the cards artwork, anyway).  i had to forbid chris from ever ordering chalupas at taco bell again since sometimes he gets more then one.  there is no way i'm letting him have three ladies and three boats.  D:<

i also learned in the past few days that chris is a human antennae and that by touching the wii and holding his arm out he can make netflix movies load faster.  i also learned that three strikes in a row in bowling is called a turkey. i don't know why it's called that.  what i do know is that when you achieve turkey on wii sports resort you earn the gobble gobble stamp.

i want the gobble gobble stamp.

but i apparently do not have the skills.

in other news, this is way to hard to type because my nails are way to long.  these things have to go.

(for anybody who was curious, i really did trim my nails after typing that.  much better.)

in other other news, we are officially on our new years diet, or as well as we can be anyway.  i even got up early to walk a bit on the treadmill before work.  we're going for a sort of weight watchers thing, except we can't afford weight watchers, so we found all the calculators and recipes and such online for free.  :D  chris (being the awesome nerd that he is) is actually looking up the nutrition facts of our favorite places to eat, putting them in the points calculator and making us all a chart of the number of weight watchers points fast food has.

according to these numbers i will probably never eat at mcdonald's again, with it's 16 point double quarter pounder.  i don't even think it's double cheeseburger is worth the points (i think it was like 8) when i only have 36 points.  D:

he even found something we can use to calculate the number of points in recipes, so we can safely cook our own food and not just live on frozen meals!

hopefully we can achieve something.  my goal is to be a chubby bride instead of a really fat bride.  so that is definitely an awesome incentive to get me to do things.  i think about it while walking on the treadmill, about how i don't want to get married then die of a heart attack because i'm clogged with fat.

chris even agreed to give up his makeshift diet to do this with me.  i think the geek in him just likes to do all the calculations.  which is fine if it means he'll stick to it with me.  i do love him so.  :)

in the next few days i want to buy a nice journal to use to keep track of my foodie things.  a good tip we've gotten from friends that have done food journaling is to not be afraid to splurge on the journal you really want, since if it's cool and pretty then you won't get bored of looking at it.  :P

i think that's about it.

well.  this morning one of my fiancĂ©es friends passed away.  i'm very bad at being comforting, especially when the person needing to be comforted is not in hugging range, so i hope he knows how much i love him and that it's going to be okay and that i'm here if he needs me.  i love you.

peace.

a freaky dream blog.

slept in late again today/yesterday because of a freaky dream.

as always, here's some back story for this dream. at about ten o'clock this morning, mom comes in my room with bug and tells me she's taking mandy to work and that bug wants to go back to sleep. so of course bug just climbs up in my bed, takes most of my blanket and somehow manages to cover half my bed with her little six-year-old body. at little after eleven or so, she hears the van pull up, hops out of bed and goes to find mom.

and i go back to sleep.

and in my dream, i wake up in my room and chris is sleeping next to me. i roll over, look at him, and ask him why he was here and not at work. he tells me he called in because he just really wanted to see me. so we have a lovey-dovey moment, then chris sneezes and i notice his eye looks funny. when he sneezes it looks like it's about to pop out.

a little more back story: there was a time, not super long after we started dating when chris was complaining that his eye was twitching. we would talk about whether or not we should be concerned, and my response was usually 'it's not like it's gonna pop out or anything'.

i wasn't freaked out about it, though. probably because of that bit of back story. his eye was watering, so i gave him some tissues to hold over his eye and told him i was going to the kitchen to get him an ice pack. dream logic told me that would definitely help.

i walk out of my room and in the bathroom i see mom and mandy trying to get bug's hair done. mom sees me and immediately starts yelling at me for not letting bug sleep with me when she took mandy to work. my defense was 'yes i did, what's wrong with you?!' and 'i have to take chris to the ER.'

i head to the kitchen and she's still yelling at me. there were a bunch of people in the kitchen, in my dream i knew they were family and one of the people i did recognize as soni, but outside dream world none of these people were familiar. i grab an ziplock bag out of the pantry and open the freezer to find some ice. apparently the freezer wasn't working, because there was no ice, but lots of water. i kept trying to find anything that was frozen to make an ice pack with. i came across one of those blue gel packs, but it was squishy and totally not good for an ice pack. i also happened on a bag of some sort of frozen pasta dinner in a bag, and i tried to pull out the noodles which were still frozen, but they would thaw out as i pulled them out of the bag. chris comes out into the kitchen and tells me to look at his eye, it was really red and i told him to cover it back up. i told him that the ER wasn't far and a pretty straight shot so if he could help me watch for the other cars that i could drive him.

after that i woke up. for a minute.

after that i woke up in my dream, back in my bed. i immediately know that i'm dreaming because i turn to my right and there is a table sitting next to my bed with my cell phone on it and i know that in real life i don't have a table anymore and that my cell phone sits on the chair.

i got up, looked around and willed myself to wake up.

and i did. for a minute.

i wake up again in my dream with that table sitting next to the bed and am incredibly frustrated that i keep having this dream. i'm fully aware that this is a dream and it pissed me off because i hate dreaming about places that are too realistic. and other than that fucking table my room was exactly the way it should be.

so i willed myself to wake up again.

and i did. for a minute.

then i wake up again in that dream with the stupid table and the cell phone only this time i'm fighting for my life against a vampire that's trying to bite me. i thank my brain for at least giving me a real dream this time.

peace.

waitin'.

bloggin' on my dude's laptop. it's much easier to blog when all the keys work. :D

right now chris is fryin' mandy some corn. you heard right. all of a sudden mandy wanted some of chris's delicious fried corn, and chris was just like 'alright' even though it's midnight. but mandy's corn craving might be related to her tasty blue booze. ya never know.

i'm also currently enjoying a nice cherry rum beverage. tasty.

been hanging out with the fam and the dude. been celebrating and lovin' chris cuz he got an awesome job! well, maybe not awesome to you, but i think it's awesome! i'll miss my awesome dude on days he's working, but with the extra income we'll be able to do a lot more fun stuff together. love my dude. :3

hmm. i don't know really why i'm bloggin'. i mainly wanted to tell you about the corn, cuz it was funny to me.

OH WAIT, also mandy was telling me a story yesterday about how someone mistook me for her while i was out with chris, so she said we can't make out in public. i suggested to chris that we *do* make out in lots of public places so that mandy looks like a ho bag. ah, that would bring me such joy, but would be really mean of me. but would be so funny and you know it.

(don't worry mandy, won't do that, still love you. even though you didn't take me shopping or invite me in the pool. bitch.)

about to watch the crazies with mandy and soni (and possibly chris, but he'll be on this laptop ignoring it while i cling in terror), so i need to finish this drink so i'm slightly less terrified. i'm a baby when it comes to scary movies, but i sit through them just because i want to know what happens. just like with scary video games, can't play them but still wanna know what happens.

("soni: i need to eat some freakin' corn right now.")

gonna go get me some corn.

peace.

more blogs!

still workin' on blog stuff for people! still having fun, though it frustrates me when i'm trying to do something and can't get it to work. sigh. added sara's blog to my to-do list, so i should have something to occupy me until class starts again. :B

missed a trip to waverly hills. sad face. i geek out over that place, i know like everything about it and i love to walk around that building. there was an open spot for me too, but got off work about 20 minutes too late. i cry. D: still got to listen to the stories anyway, and mandy even got poked by a ghost! oh noes! ghost poke!

all this mountain dew is making my teeth hurt. that probably means i should go to the dentist. but dentists want money to look at your teeth, they don't just do it because of their love of teeth. so also sad face.

i'm only blogging because i'm bored. was gonna try to wait up for my dude to call back, but he was calling from cincinatti from a super cool con that i didn't get to go to, so who knows when that will be. oh wells. he'll just have to expect fjka;ljfkda; when he calls me back. :P

peace.
